In February 2025, a group of 5 visitors spent a week at St. Antoine Secondary School, helping to rebuild the library bookshelves, meeting students, presenting lessons on Lent, entrepreneurship, and nutrition and getting to immerse ourselves in the daily lives of the students. Tours of the medical clinic, the school grounds and the village of Karangazi, the Genocide Memorial and a safari helped round out the week. Everyone was amazed with the interest the students had in learning, their desires and goals for their future careers and the quality of the teachers who expand the student’s knowledge 6 days a week. Fr. Jean Bosco Gakirage, founder of the school, has worked to ensure the students still get to receive 3 meals a day in spite of food insecurity and high food prices in the country. Joy, love and peace was evident everywhere we went.
